WHY IS CHANTING HARE KRSNA MAHA MANTRA SO IMPORTANT!!!
Authorized Process
Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna hHre Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
iti sodasakam namnam kali-kalmasa-nasanam
natah parataropayah sarva-vedesu drsyate
“Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Raama, Hare Raama, Raama Raama, Hare Hare. These sixteen names composed of thirty-two syllables are the only means of counteracting the evil effects of the Kali-yuga. After searching through all the Vedic literature, one cannot find a method of religion for this age so sublime as the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra”
(Kali-santarana Upaniñad)
It is said that in Kali-yuga (the present yuga, or age), when people in general are short-lived, slow in spiritual realization and always disturbed by various anxieties, the best means of spiritual realization is chanting the holy name of the Lord.
harer naama harer naama
harer naamaiva kevalam
kalau naasty eva naasty eva
naasty eva gatir anyathaa
"In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is chanting the holy name of the Lord. There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way."
(Brhan-naaradiya Puraaëa)
Meaning of Hare Krsna Mantra
Mahaa-mantra: The Great Chant of Deliverance – Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. The Hare Krsna mahaa-mantra also says, “My dear Lord Krsna, my dear Lord Raama, O energy of the Lord, Hare, kindly engage me in Your service.”
(Purport, Srimad-Bhaagavatam 4.24.60)
1. Why not other Mantras (like the Gaayatri Mantra or the Oà)?
Because the Gaayatri mantra is especially meant for God realization, it represents the Supreme Lord. This mantra is meant for spiritually advanced people, and when one attains success in chanting it, he can enter into the transcendental position of the Lord. One must first acquire the qualities of the perfectly situated person, the qualities of goodness according to the laws of material nature, in order to chant the Gaayatri mantra.
(Purport, Bhagavad-gitaa 10.35)
